Week one wrap up for Go Between Bridge

12 July, 2010

Brisbane City Council’s Go Between Bridge was used by over 62700 vehicles in its first week of operation.

Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said the result was a solid start, especially given the first week of operation was during school holidays, which is a much quieter time on Brisbane roads.

“During the first week of operations, 62762 vehicles used the Go Between Bridge,” Cr Newman said.

“We are very happy with the way it’s been going since it opened last Monday morning.”

Cr Newman said the Go Between Bridge was doing well and was on track to reach projected traffic figures within months of opening.

“Given the school holiday period, we are very happy with the impact the Go Between Bridge is having on traffic congestion and the usage in its first week of operation.

“We project 12,800 vehicles per day will use the bridge a few months into operation once things have stabilised and this week’s result is very encouraging.”

Friday last week was a record day, with 9847 vehicles using the Go Between Bridge to save time on their trip.

Brisbane City Council will reopen right hand turn from Hale Street into Coronation Drive within a month.
